Each patch is circular, 45 mm in diameter, and can be affixed easily to garments (jackets, bags, trousers, shirts, handkerchiefs, scarves, skirts, coats, jumpers etc.) with the use of a hot iron and a damp cloth. High quality items in green satin, with white, purple and green silk embroidered stitching detail (WSPU insignia which depicts a Clarion 'Angel' with trumpet). The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter.
