High-quality, attractive, reproduction suffragette badge / brooch. Votes for Women WSPU Suffragette Streamer. (Manufactured by Portrayer). Attractive, circular plated gold-coloured metal reproduction brooch / badge with firm safety-pin fitment at the rear for affixing to clothes. The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter. Presented in an attractive zip-gift-bag which is clear at the front and shiny silver at the rear. Brand new, in fine condition. pp. Order No. NSBK-C15671

Poster shows a prison cell in which a woman is being forcibly held down in a chair by a man and a woman, whilst another man pours liquid down a tube into the woman's nose. Winter, and originally produced by the Artists' Suffrage League (date unknown). Image (in shades of brown, cream and sand) shows weary and dejected British working woman at a sewing machine, with the slogan "Votes for Workers" beneath it.
