It shows a prison cell in which a woman is being forcibly held down in a chair by a man and a woman, whilst another man pours liquid down a tube into the woman's nose. The Portcullis: The WSPU Holloway Badge / Brooch

The original Holloway brooch, of which this is a faithful replica, was designed by Sylvia Panhurst and presented from 1909 onwards to suffragettes who had undergone imprisonment. The portcullis and chains are in a non-precious antique-chrome plate, and the arrow on top, which is the convict symbol, is purple, white and green enamel (the colours of the WSPU).
