Attractive, circular plated gold-coloured metal reproduction brooch / badge with firm safety-pin fitment at the rear for affixing to clothes. The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter.
