The image is printed in vibrant lithographic colours and is taken from a suffragette poster advertising The Suffragette Newspaper, edited by Christabel Pankhurst. Image (in purple, brown, green, and white) shows Justice, a woman warrior in armour, holding a WSPU flag. Image (in brown, gold and cream sepia) shows an educated woman, wearing cap and gown, and standing inside locked gates with a convict and a "lunatic".
