Size: 25mm (1 inch) diameter: Circular shape. Hard enamel-type finish. Gold-plated back and gold-plated, safe, butterfly clutch-pin to rear. Presented inside a small poly-bag. The design, as used by the WSPU, features a woman scattering the seeds of woman suffrage, and the colours are those associated with the suffragette movement - purple, green and white. The original badge, on which this is faithfully based, was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the suffragette campaign in 1909 / 1910. It incorporates the purple, white and green colour-scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union, and depicts a woman stepping through an iron gate and heavy chains, carrying a 'Votes for Women' streamer. 25mm in diameter.
